The votes are in: Over 715,000 readers voted in Condé Nast Traveler’s 33rd Readers’ Choice Awards for 2020 and 14 Arizona hotels, resorts and spa resorts made the cut.
The city of Tucson also grabbed an accolade this year, ranking ninth on the list of top large city destinations in the United States, which brings the number of Arizona awardees to 15.
“The results of this year’s survey, conducted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, are a testament to the lasting power of a meaningful travel experience,” said Jesse Ashlock, the U.S. editor of Condé Nast Traveler, in a statement.

Arizona has three of the top 20 hotels in the region, according to readers. Other popular hotels in the West such as The Art in Denver, Colorado, and Inn on the Alameda in Santa Fe, New Mexico, round out the list.

Five Arizona resorts got top marks from readers in the category comprised of hotels from Michigan to Alaska. Viceroy Snowmass in Colorado and Under Canvas Mount Rushmore in South Dakota are other notable properties in this category.

With six of the 20 spa resorts on the list, Arizona is the most represented state in the country for beloved spa resorts. Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa in Tucson and Civana Wellness Resort and Spa are not just listed as some of the best in the country, they also ranked on the list worldwide.
